Today, Congressman Leonard Boswell announced his support for the bipartisan DISCLOSE Act that was introduced this week to bring transparency to our electoral process and address the Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.

"There was no question in my mind that something needed to be done following the Supreme Court's decision to rule in favor of corporations and special interests at the expense of everyday Americans in the Citizens United case," said Boswell, who also introduced a constitutional amendment to overturn the ruling. "The DISCLOSE Act will ensure that corporate money cannot drown out the will and voice of the American people in the electoral process."

Congressmen Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Mike Castle (R-DE), Walter Jones (R-NC), and Chairman Robert Brady (D-PA) introduced the DISCLOSE Act. Boswell was part of a taskforce that was formed following the ruling in Citizens United to find a legislative solution.

"Congressman Boswell has been a strong fighter for campaign finance reform and his work was vital as we drafted the bipartisan DISCLOSE Act," Van Hollen said. "I want to thank him for his efforts on this issue. Powerful special interests should not be able to drown out the voices of hard working Americans. It is critical to let the sun shine in on political expenditures and ensure voters are able to follow the money and make informed decisions."
